Department at a glance
Zoology, an integral component of life sciences, was established as a subject of study at higher secondary stage in 1990. Prof.(Ms.) Sharmila Mishra joined as a lecturer in Zoology in 1990. Zoology was first introduced at degree level as a pass subject in 1996. After continuing for a significant tenure, Ms. Mishra was transferred in 2013 and Prof. S C Panda joined in the said post.Later, Ms. Sushree Sangita Paschimakabat joined as a lecturer in 2013. Zoology was later established as Honours in 2016 with affiliation for 16 seats initially, which was later expanded to 32 seats. The CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) curriculum was adopted in our department from 2016-17. In 2019-20.Mr. S C Panda became the head of the department. In the same year i.e.e 2019, Mr. Bikram Keshari Behera was appointed as a lecturer in this department.
Later, Ms. Snehanjali Mohanty joined in after him as H.O.D. in 2021 till 2024, facilitating the departmwnt alongwith Ms. Sushree and Mr. Bikram. Finally Mr. Pinaki Jena joined after her as head of the department, continuing till date alongwith the former two teachers unchanged. As per guidelines of Govt of Odisha, our department has adopted NEP-2020 curriculum from 2024 UG batch. Our teachers are dedicated, hardworking and committed for qualitative and holistic development of students.
