DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY
Welcome to department of Psychology.
Psychology, a social science discipline, was first introduced as a subject of study at the higher secondary level in 1990.The Department of Psychology was officially established on May 5, 1995, offering a Pass Course during the academic session 1994-1995 with an initial intake capacity of 96 seats.To enhance academic opportunities, the Undergraduate Honours Course in Psychology was introduced on July 30, 2012, during the 2011-2012 academic session. Initially, the course had 16 seats, which were later increased to 32 seats. At present, the Undergraduate Psychology Course has 32 seats allotted for each academic session. From the 2024-2025 academic session, the department has adopted the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) to support educational reforms and foster academic development.
Currently, it has three faculty members, including one regular faculty post. Our faculty members teach diverse areas of psychology, including: Counseling Psychology, Psychopathology, Positive Psychology, Health Psychology, Research Methodology etc. The department regularly organizes seminars, inviting distinguished scholars from reputed institutions. Apart from classroom teaching, students participate in various co-curricular activities such as: Seminars, Study Tours. These activities significantly enhance students’ presentation skills and group discussion abilities. Our department is well equipped with furnished laboratory for practicals , two classrooms and a seminar library with a good collection of books.

2. To equip students with the knowledge to acquire and apply basic psychological skills to solve real-world problems.

1. To contribute to the well-being of society by addressing psychological challenges and promoting mental health.
2. To provide high-quality education in psychology by imparting theoretical knowledge, real-world skills, and
ethical values to students.
3. To develop practical skills through hands-on experience, preparing students for careers in counseling, clinical
psychology, research, and other applied fields.
