Welcome to the Department Of Physics !
Pipli College was established in 1978 under the College Society Act, with registration number 1448/1978-1979/1294. The college received its first concurrence for the Intermediate Arts stream in 1980-81 with 64 seats. The first degree concurrence was granted in 1986-87, offering 128 seats for the Arts stream.
With further expansion, the Science stream was introduced in 1990, also with 128 seats. Consequently, the Department of Physics was established in the same year, with Prof. Ambika Prasad Sarangi joining as a Lecturer.
In the 1996-97 academic session, a degree course in Physics (Pass) was introduced as part of the pre-professional course. Later, Physics Honours was introduced with 8 seats in the 2016-17 session under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). The Honours intake was increased to 16 seats in 2019-20.
From the 2024-25 academic session, the department has adopted the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) to enhance educational reforms and academic development.The Undergraduate Honours students actively participate in departmental seminars, student activities, and research projects as part of their coursework.
Our department is well equipped with furnished laboratory & dark room for practicals, two class room and a seminar library with good collection of books.
MISSION
To awaken the young minds and discover their talents both in theoretical and practical Physics, through dedication to teach, commitment towards students and innovative institutional methods like PPT. To support the developmental activities of the college and make the department vibrant. To make the vital contributions in the areas such as faculty, modern labs, and demonstrate a high level of competence in the study of physics. To develop strategy in the department for continuous improvement.

To build a foundation for excellence and encourage the development of the Institution as a premier institution by igniting and promoting enthusiasm, interests and passion in the study of Physics, professional courses, as a part of curriculum.
