NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME(NSS)
National Service Scheme (NSS) was introduced in 1969 with the primary objective of developing the personality and character of the student youth through voluntary community service. “Education through service” is the purpose of NSS. The ideological orientation of NSS is inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. The motto of NSS is “NOT ME, BUT YOU”.The National Service Scheme (NSS) was introduced in our college in 1982 to foster national consciousness, social responsibility, discipline, and dignity of labor among students. The NSS provides students with opportunities to engage in community service and social welfare activities while developing their leadership and teamwork skills. Currently Mr. Banambar Subudhi is appointed as Programme Officer I (PO- I) for boys unit I and Ms. Sushree Sangita Paschimakabat is appointed as Programme Officer II (PO- II) for girls unit II.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The primary goal of NSS is to involve students voluntarily in various social service activities and national development programs. By participating in these initiatives, students contribute to socio-economic progress while gaining a deeper understanding of community problems and solutions.NSS aims at developing different qualities among the volunteers i.e.
✔ To understand the community in which the NSS volunteers work.
✔ To develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
✔ To acquire leadership qualities and democratic values.
✔ To develop capacity to deal with emergencies and natural disasters.
✔ To practice national integration and social harmony.
✔ To work with and among the people, fostering a spirit of cooperation.
✔ To engage in non-violent and constructive social activities for community betterment.
✔ To enhance students’ knowledge of themselves and society through real-life experiences.
✔ To apply academic knowledge to solve social problems.
✔ To develop democratic leadership skills among students.
NSS ACTIVITIES & PROGRAMS
NSS attempts to establish meaningful linkages between campus and community, college and village, and knowledge and action. Students enrolled in NSS can choose from various community service programs, including:
✔ Social Service & Village Development – Engaging in rural welfare initiatives.
✔ Adult Literacy Programs – Teaching literacy to underprivileged adults.
✔ Rover’s Crew – A team dedicated to youth leadership and outdoor service.
✔ Red Cross Activities – Working on healthcare and humanitarian projects.
✔ Village Survey & Campus Projects – Conducting surveys and development projects in nearby villages.

ANNUAL NSS CAMP
A mandatory week-long camp is organized for all NSS volunteers.
Attendance in weekend and annual campus activities (minimum 75%) is compulsory. Certificates are awarded to deserving students, which can help in career and academic advancements.
ENROLLMENT & PARTICIPATION
✔ Our college has one NSS unit for boys and one NSS unit for girls.
Boys unit I : 100 volunteers
Girls unit II : 100 volunteers
✔ Students interested in joining NSS must submit an application form to the NSS Program Officer.
✔ Preference is given to students with previous experience in community service.
✔ NSS students are not eligible for enrollment in NCC (National Cadet Corps).
